Memory Size

#1
Im looking to stream 4K video files on a NAS via plex locally. Does memory on the NAS device have any affect on streaming/streaming quality? (say having only 1GB of memory vs 2GB+)

When it comes to streaming 4K video files on a NAS via Plex locally, the memory size of the NAS device doesn't directly impact streaming quality. However, it's crucial to ensure that the NAS has enough RAM to run both the Plex application and the operating system smoothly. While 1GB of memory might be sufficient for basic streaming needs, it may not provide optimal performance, especially when handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Therefore, it's recommended to opt for a NAS with at least 2GB or more of RAM to ensure smooth operation and adequate resources for running Plex and other essential applications effectively.
