I'm having approximately 80 Panasonic 63 minute HDV video tapes digitized and I need a recommendation for an external SSD to purchase on which the digitized content can be stored. All my computer equipment is Apple; i.e., M1 Mac Mini [soon to purchase an M4 Mac Mini (with Pro chip). I use iCloud for content back up.. Thank you so much for your time and help.

Thanks for reaching out! Sounds like a great project with those Panasonic HDV tapes.
For storing your digitized videos on a 4TB portable SSD that works well with your Apple gear, I’d recommend a few solid options:
Samsung T7 Shield — rugged, reliable, fast enough for archiving and general use, and works smoothly with Macs. It’s USB-C and great value overall.
SanDisk PRO-G40 — if you want to future-proof and take advantage of Thunderbolt on your upcoming M4 Mac Mini, this drive is super fast and perfect for video work.
Crucial X9 Pro — a more budget-friendly option that still offers good speeds and Mac compatibility.
If you mostly want storage and backup with occasional access, the Samsung T7 Shield is probably your best bet. If you plan to do any video editing or heavy file work directly from the drive, then the SanDisk PRO-G40 is worth considering.
