Im a NAS novice& use the synology storage analyser and synology drive and photos app to help upload phone photos and files/documents from 0hone to NAS during charging whilst asleep. However i have plenty & i mean plenty of duplicates from previous manual uploads on the NAS before. I find the aforementioned apps dont have intuitive enough capabilities to automatically prevent duplicate uploads or even ways to get rid of duplicates without manually having to aift through it all which is awfully cumbersome.my question to you all you expert folks out tgere please is there an app i can put on the NAS and my phone which puts photos documents files etc in a sort of library type of system in set folders automatically and prevents duplications and also actively gets rid of duplicates on the NAS. Im looking for something that I can wake up one morning in Lanzarote and log into to the NAS successfully and copy a photo onto my phone for printing on i dunno a tshirt or album or whatever. Hi! There are a few options you can explore to manage and prevent duplicate files on your NAS.
Use a third-party app: You can use a third-party app like PhotoSync, FolderSync or Resilio Sync to automatically upload your photos and files to your NAS while also checking for duplicates. These apps can also organize your files in a structured manner, which makes it easier to find and access them.
Use a file management app: Synology has a few file management apps like File Station and Synology Drive that can help you organize and manage your files. These apps have built-in duplicate file finders that can help you identify and delete duplicate files.
Use a deduplication tool: You can also use a deduplication tool like DupScout or Anti-Twin to find and delete duplicate files on your NAS. These tools scan your NAS and identify files that have the same content, allowing you to delete one of the duplicates.
It's important to note that automatic duplicate detection and removal may not always be 100% accurate, so it's a good idea to periodically check for duplicates manually.
