Replacement for TS 269l 6TB.

#1
Presently use Twonkey to serve video and sickbeard/ sabnzb as will as main video, photo, music and file repository. Is backed up regularly to external hdds.

Would like to explore home automation on a more modern device.

Thanks for the message. The QNAP TS-269L was a solid unit in its day, but it’s now well past its supported lifespan, so moving to a newer system makes sense, especially if you want to integrate home automation and keep Twonky-style media streaming.

If you’d like to stay with QNAP, the TS-262A is the best modern equivalent. It supports Plex, Home Assistant (via Container Station or Virtualization Station), and all the same download and media apps you’re used to, while being far faster and quieter. It can also use SSD caching or NVMe storage if needed.

If you prefer something simpler to maintain, the Synology DS224+ or DS725+ would give you the same capacity and automatic backup tools, though Synology is more focused on stability and less flexible with third-party automation tools.

Both options support 6–8TB drives easily and are well-suited for file storage, multimedia streaming, and light automation tasks.
