Snapshot replication update broken if still running DSM7.2

#1
Hi Robbie,
Have you heard about this issue?
Replication hangs, no data replicated since updating Replication Service to 1.3.0-0503 on DSM 7.2

It appears that v1.3.0-0503 requires DSM 7.3 but somehow Synology have released this to systems running 7.2.

Other with this problem have fixed this by updating to DSM7.3 but I'm running an RS822+ and 7.3 isn't available on their downloads page yet.

See...
https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/1o1gp8p/snapshot_replication_broken_after_package_updates/

and
https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/1o2ee7c/snapshot_replication_update_130_breaks/

I've raised a support ticket with Synology.

It looks like Synology have rushed out DSM7.3 and the Replication Service update and missed out some basic checks.

Many thanks,
Manos

Hi Manos, yes, I’ve seen that and completely agree. It was an irresponsible release from Synology’s side. The Replication Service 1.3.0-0503 clearly depends on DSM 7.3, and pushing it out to 7.2 systems without proper version checks has caused widespread issues. Rolling out such a major dependency change without a beta or compatibility gate is careless, especially given how critical Snapshot Replication is for many users. You’re right to raise it with support, and it’s good that others have confirmed updating to DSM 7.3 resolves it. Hopefully Synology pulls or patches the package for 7.2 users soon, but until then, anyone affected will have to hold off or move to 7.3 when it becomes available for their model.
