AS3304T V2 DNS Setup

#1
Thanks for your setup video - very helpful

I tried to make the ip address fixed and it asked me for the primary and secondary DNS servers. Unsure what to put in here and the video didn't provide suggestions. I've set it up initially as a DHCP allocated address, but want to change it now in control centre. Can you suggest how to easily do this ?

Glad to hear the setup video helped! When setting a fixed IP address on your AS3304T V2, it’s perfectly normal for the system to ask for primary and secondary DNS servers — these are what the NAS will use to resolve domain names (like websites or software update servers).

If you’re unsure what to use, here are a couple of safe and commonly used options:
• Google DNS:
Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4
• Cloudflare DNS:
Primary: 1.1.1.1
Secondary: 1.0.0.1

You can enter either pair. Most users choose Google DNS as it’s widely compatible, but Cloudflare is also a great privacy-focused alternative.

After setting your static IP and DNS, make sure your subnet mask, gateway, and NAS IP are also correct — ideally matching what your router assigned via DHCP originally (with the IP just outside of the router’s auto-DHCP range to avoid conflicts).
