Need to jump ship from a dying Drobo

#1
Hi,

Can't believe this is a free service.
I currently have a Drobo5N that I used to run a Plex server on.

As you're aware, Drobo no longer exist and I'm currently running sonarr/radarr/plex/sabnzbd on my PC.

I'm wanting a NAS that can run sonarr/radarr/plex/sabnzbd and most importantly be able to stream 4k content to 1 or 2 TVs simultaneously. Ideally a 6 bay so I can buy some 20TB discs and ad them in along the way.

The QNAP TS-664 is a very solid choice for your use case. It offers great value for money, has 6 bays for future storage expansion, and runs Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, and SABnzbd smoothly. It supports Docker, has decent hardware for direct-play 4K streaming, and gives you flexibility with apps.

If you’re thinking long term and want to take things further — such as adding a PCIe graphics card for Plex hardware transcoding or other high-performance tasks — then stepping up to a model from the QNAP TVS-h674 series (or similar in the x74 lineup) is worth considering. These offer full PCIe slots, stronger CPUs (Intel Core i5/i7), and much more power for multiple concurrent 4K streams, even with transcoding.

So in short:
• TS-664 = Great balance of price and features. Perfect if you’re sticking with direct-play or occasional transcoding.
• TVS-h674 / h874 = Ideal if you want future upgrade options (GPU, 10GbE, NVMe acceleration) and serious horsepower.
