TOS threats

#1
Did a Windows Defender scan today and these two "High" threats were flagged. I had installed the Terramaster TOS in preparation for setting up the NAS. Are these serious?

The good news is that what you’re seeing is not unusual when running antivirus scans on NAS firmware files. Terramaster TOS firmware images include some Linux utilities and lightweight tools (like FRP – Fast Reverse Proxy) which are often used in legitimate remote administration and internal communication on the NAS. Some antivirus products flag these tools because they could also be misused by malicious software, even though in this context they’re perfectly normal and needed for the system to function.

In your case, both dgconsole and role inside the TOS installer are part of Terramaster’s system utilities. They are not harmful when they come from the official Terramaster website or your NAS hardware. Windows Defender simply detects the type of tool rather than knowing it’s being used properly.

So to answer your question: no, these are not serious threats, as long as you downloaded the installer directly from Terramaster’s official site and didn’t modify it. You can safely allow them or just ignore the quarantine if you’re installing TOS on the NAS itself. You don’t actually need to run TOS on your Windows PC — TOS runs on the NAS, and you just access it through your browser.
