Thank you for your inquiry regarding RAM compatibility for the Synology DS1821+. As of the latest information, Synology officially supports a maximum of 32GB of RAM for this model. However, many users have successfully upgraded to 64GB using third-party memory modules, though this is considered unofficial and may void warranties.

? Officially Supported RAM
Synology recommends using their own memory modules for guaranteed compatibility and support. For the DS1821+, the official RAM upgrade is:

Synology 8GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM: This module is designed specifically for the DS1821+ and ensures optimal performance and support.

⚠️ Unofficial RAM Upgrades
If you're considering upgrading beyond the official 32GB limit, several users have reported success with the following third-party modules:

OWC 32GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM: Known for reliability and performance.

Crucial 32GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM: A cost-effective option with good user feedback.

Corsair 32GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM: Offers high performance, though some users have reported mixed results.

Please note that while these modules have been used successfully by some, they are not officially supported by Synology. Using them may lead to issues that Synology support might not assist with.

✅ Recommendations
For Official Support: Stick with the Synology 8GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM modules.

For Higher Capacity: If you opt for third-party modules, ensure they are ECC DDR4-2666 SODIMM to match the DS1821+'s requirements. Always check the latest compatibility lists and user forums for the most current information.
