Best way to transfer data

#1
Hello, I am upgrading from a DS220J to a DS1522+
I use my nas to watch movies and store my photos.
What would be the best way to transfer my files from the 220J
to the 1522+?
I have two new 16tb drives for the 1522 when it arrives. I have two pools on the 220J one with 10tb and one with 9tb.
Should I use the migration software or just plug in my two old drives after setting up the 1522+?
Thanks,
Randy

You have a few options for transferring your files. Here’s what I recommend:

Use a USB Dock: If your current setup is in a RAID1 mirror, you can plug in one of the drives directly into a USB dock and connect it to your DS1522+. This will allow you to copy the files over to the new NAS.

USB Backup: Another fast option is to use a USB backup drive. You can plug it into your DS220J, copy everything to the external drive, then plug it into the DS1522+ and transfer the data. This method would be the quickest and most straightforward if you have a spare external drive available.

Link Both NASes via LAN: If you prefer not to use a USB dock or backup drive, you can connect both NAS devices via your 1GbE LAN and copy the files over the network. While it’s not as fast as the USB options, it’s still reliable and efficient for large transfers.
