Qnap - find duplicate files

#1
I've been trying to find a way to find duplicates on my Qnap NAS. It would be great to see a video from you demonstrating the ways this could be done. None seem really easy.

Finding duplicate files on a QNAP NAS can be a bit tricky since it doesn't have a built-in, straightforward duplicate file finder like some other systems. However, there are a few methods you can use:

QNAP's Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS): While it’s not specifically for finding duplicates, you can use it to sync and backup files and compare folders, which can sometimes help in identifying duplicates if you're manually comparing them.

Third-Party Apps: There are a few apps available in the QNAP App Center, such as dupeGuru or dupeKill, which can scan your NAS for duplicate files and let you clean them up. These apps can often find duplicates by content rather than just name, which is helpful for more thorough cleaning.

Command Line (Linux-based): If you’re comfortable with SSH and the terminal, you can use Linux tools like fdupes or rdfind directly on your NAS. These tools can search for duplicate files based on content.

I can definitely see the value in a video demonstrating these options in more detail, so it may be something I will cover in the future. For now, these methods should help you get started with finding and removing duplicates from your NAS.
