I am a pure home/family NAS user.
I back up a few Macs with Time Machine, store pictures on the NAS, and have a folder with important documents in Synology cloud. (instead of iCloud or google drive)
Do I need SSD cache?
Thanks for your advice

Thanks for your message! Based on your use case, you may not necessarily need an SSD cache.
An SSD cache is primarily beneficial for improving read/write performance, especially when accessing frequently used data or running high-demand applications like media streaming or virtual machines. Since your primary use is backing up Macs with Time Machine, storing photos, and keeping important documents in Synology Cloud, these tasks don't heavily rely on quick read/write speeds that would justify an SSD cache.
However, if you’re planning on using the NAS for larger media files, frequent access to large documents, or running multiple applications that require faster access, then an SSD cache could provide noticeable improvements. If you're simply using it for backups and basic file storage, an SSD cache may not be a must-have within your $100-200 budget.
