Can you possibly explain the process by which I can remotely access Plex which is installed on my Synology NAS (which I usually accessed on my PC via my home network) so I can instead use my Android phone to access Plex when outside of my home network via Tailscale. The few YouTube videos about this are concerning Plex hosted on a PC rather than via a NAS.
I have Tailscale installed on my laptop and on my Android phone and would really appreciate a step by step guide.

To set up remote access to Plex hosted on your Synology NAS using Tailscale on your Android phone, here is a step-by-step guide to help you configure everything properly:
Step 1: Install Tailscale on your Synology NAS
Log in to DSM (Synology DiskStation Manager):
Open a web browser and go to your NAS's IP address (e.g., http://<your-nas-ip>:5000).
Log in with your admin credentials.
Install Tailscale from the Synology Package Center:
Go to Package Center.
Search for Tailscale and install it. If Tailscale isn’t available directly, you might need to enable the Synology Community repository to get the package.
Set up Tailscale:
Once installed, open the Tailscale app on your NAS from the Main Menu.
Follow the prompts to log in and authorize your NAS with your Tailscale account. This will give your NAS a unique Tailscale IP.
Step 2: Install Tailscale on Your Android Device
Install Tailscale on your phone:
Go to the Google Play Store and search for Tailscale.
Download and install the app.
Log in to Tailscale:
Open the Tailscale app on your phone and log in with the same account you used on your Synology NAS.
Connect to your Tailscale network:
Once logged in, your Android phone should be connected to your Tailscale network and get a Tailscale IP address.
Step 3: Configure Plex to Allow External Access
Install Plex Media Server on your Synology NAS:
Go to Package Center and search for Plex Media Server. Install it if you haven’t already.
Once installed, open Plex and follow the setup instructions to organize your media.
Access Plex Settings:
Open Plex through your NAS by going to http://<your-nas-ip>:32400/web on your browser while on the local network.
Log in to your Plex account.
Allow Remote Access in Plex:
In Plex Settings > Remote Access, enable remote access.
Note: While you don't need port forwarding if you are using Tailscale, Plex will need to be aware that remote access is allowed.
Step 4: Use Plex on Your Android Device via Tailscale
Connect to Tailscale:
Ensure that your Android phone is connected to the same Tailscale network.
Open the Tailscale app on your Android phone and make sure it's connected to your NAS.
Access Plex via Tailscale:
Open the Plex app on your Android phone.
Instead of accessing Plex via your home network IP, use the Tailscale IP address of your NAS.
For example, if your NAS Tailscale IP is 100.x.x.x, use that to access Plex.
Enjoy Remote Access:
Now, you can stream your media from Plex on your Android device, just as you would on your home network, but securely over Tailscale while outside of your home.
Step 5: Verify and Troubleshoot
Test on local network: Ensure Plex works normally on your home network before testing remote access.
Test remote connection: Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone and test the connection via mobile data.
Check Tailscale IP: Ensure that both your Synology NAS and Android phone are using the correct Tailscale IPs.
Tailscale network: Ensure there are no issues with Tailscale’s connectivity and both devices are online.
