The DS3622XS+ does not support Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR), but you can use RAID 5 with a hot spare. Here's a brief comparison:

RAID 5 + Spare: With this setup, you get data protection across your drives, and the spare drive is used to replace any failed drive automatically. Adding more drives later is possible, but you’ll need to manually expand the volume.

SHR: This is Synology's proprietary RAID system, which is more flexible when expanding volumes, as it can handle different-sized drives more easily and automatically adjust to new drives. It's ideal if you plan to upgrade or add drives gradually.

For the DS3622XS+, you can start with 5x24TB drives in RAID 5, and later add more disks and expand the volume, but it will require manual intervention. SHR would make this process more seamless.

Hope that clears it up!
