Hi, I am looking for a NAS server for my home. The usage would be to offload photos and videos on Google Photos to a local server. Additionally, I would like to potentially add movies to this device and possibly store PC games that could be played over the network on this device.

If you want to play games from the NAS, you will need to make sure you get a fast enough connection. Standard NAS comes with 1GbE LAN. Models like DS218play, DS220+. And there is 2.5GbE option from Qnap such as TS-253D and ts-264. These can also be upgraded with 10gbe cards. These two brands will also be the best for backing up and organising you photos and videos.
