I have narrowed my search for a NAS to Synology DS1925+ vs QNAP TS673A8. I had owned a QNAP TS433 3 years ago and had great difficulty, mostly because of my lack of technical knowledge. I am a photographer and I want to upgrade my storage to a NAS. I wanted to move to Synology because of their Software reported to be the best in the industry and their ease of use and set up. Then I started to read all the negative reviews surrounding the proprietary issues. I get that, same issue with Apple products. My question is if one puts the proprietary issues to the side is Synology still a solid choice for its software, ease of use, ease of setup and long-term support via system updates? QNAP solid hardware and freedom to choose but I struggled getting the TS433 up and running smoothly.
