The QNAP TVS-h874X-i9 is one of the most powerful desktop NAS systems available right now and a huge step up from your TVS-671. It’s absolutely a good choice for your use case. With the Intel Core i9 12th Gen CPU, 64GB DDR4 support, dual M.2 PCIe Gen4 slots, and built-in 10GbE networking, it’s ideal for Plex, video editing, and heavy multitasking.

For Plex specifically, this NAS has enough raw CPU power to transcode multiple 4K streams via software, though you can also add a GPU (like the Quadro P1000 or RTX A2000) for hardware-accelerated transcoding if you plan to share media with multiple users remotely.

With 80TB+ planned, RAID 6 is recommended for a good balance of capacity and protection. You can mix HDDs and NVMe drives, using NVMe for caching or a separate high-speed storage pool for your editing workspace.
