Just wanted some free advice on building a NAS Cloud Solution

Thanks for reaching out. If your goal is to build a small distributed NAS cloud for around £1000 and about 50GB of data, you can achieve this with compact systems running software that syncs securely across multiple locations.

For the hardware, a good starting point would be two to three entry-level NAS units like the Synology DS224+ or QNAP TS-262, placed in different locations or offices. These can synchronize automatically using built-in tools such as Synology Drive ShareSync or QNAP Hybrid Backup Sync, creating your own distributed private cloud.

If you prefer to build it yourself, small mini-PCs or Intel NUC systems running TrueNAS SCALE or Nextcloud can perform the same function and give more control over encryption and access policies.

With only 50GB of data, the key is reliability and redundancy rather than raw capacity. Use SSDs for speed and low power, and connect everything over Tailscale VPN or WireGuard for secure remote access without exposing your NAS to the internet.
