Mac permission vs Terramaster

#1
I am running a Terramaster F4-212 and my computer is a MacBook Air on sequoia 15.3.2

My issue is when I format a new disk (volume, pool, etc) I always run into the "the folder "X" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see it's content.

when I get the info of the folder it's telling me I have permission, the user that I'm using also has full permission on the terra master parameters.

what am I doing wrong ? I've also tried reinstalling everything and I get the same result

thank you

It sounds like you're encountering a permission issue between your MacBook Air and the Terramaster F4-212. Here are a few things you can check:

SMB Settings: Ensure that your Terramaster is set up to use SMB for file sharing (it's the most compatible protocol with macOS). Go to your Terramaster settings and check the SMB service is enabled and properly configured.

Permissions Issue: Although the user has full permissions in the Terramaster interface, macOS sometimes needs explicit permissions to access network shares. You can try the following:

In the Mac Finder, go to Go > Connect to Server and enter smb://<Terramaster IP address> to connect directly.

Once connected, try manually setting permissions on the folders by right-clicking the folder in Finder, selecting Get Info, and adjusting permissions from the Sharing & Permissions section. Ensure that your user account has "Read & Write" access.

Mounting as a Volume: Sometimes, when connecting via SMB, the NAS might not mount correctly. Try remounting the NAS after disconnecting it and ensure you check the "Connect As" option with the correct credentials.

Terramaster Firmware & macOS Updates: Ensure that both your Terramaster firmware and macOS are fully updated, as there could be compatibility issues with older versions.

Reset Permissions: On the Mac, you can try resetting your Mac's access control settings for the network drive:

Open Terminal and use the following command to reset the file permissions cache:

php-template
Copy
Edit
sudo chown -R <username>Confusedtaff /Volumes/<NASVolume>
Replace <username> with your Mac's username and <NASVolume> with the volume name of your Terramaster share.

If none of these solutions work, it could be worth trying to reset the SMB settings on both devices or contacting Terramaster's support.
