QSync client "Paired Local Folder" not working

Hi,

Newbie NAS user here.  

Setting up QNAP TS-233.
- I've run QSync on the NAS.
- I've created a shared folder "SDN-Data" on the NAS and given "Adm1n" R/W rights.
- I've installed and run QSync clint on my Windows 11 PC.
- In QSync client I've logged in as "Adm1n", clicked "add" on the "Select Folders to Sync" Window, and selected the "SDN-Data" folder.
- Now I want to select the "Paired Local Folder" but the edit box won't let me type and the "browse folder icon" does nothing!

What have I missed or done wrong?

The problem is likely that QSync needs a local folder to pair with the NAS folder before you can select the NAS folder in the "Select Folders to Sync" window. You're trying to select the NAS folder first, which is the reverse of how it works.

Here's the correct process:

Create a Local Folder: On your Windows 11 PC, create a folder where you want to store the synced files. This can be anywhere you like, for example: C:\QSync\SDN-Data.

Open QSync Client and Add Sync Folder:

Open the QSync client on your Windows 11 PC.
Log in with your NAS credentials ("Adm1n" in your case).
Click "Add" on the "Select Folders to Sync" window.
Select the Local Folder FIRST: This is the crucial step. In the "Select a local folder" section, click the "Browse Folder" icon and navigate to the local folder you created in step 1 (e.g., C:\QSync\SDN-Data). Select it.

Now Select the NAS Folder: After selecting the local folder, the "Select a remote folder" section should become active. Click the "Browse Folder" icon and choose the "SDN-Data" shared folder on your QNAP NAS.

Finish Setup: Click "OK" or "Apply" (the exact button name might vary). QSync will now establish the connection and begin syncing the files between the local folder on your PC and the "SDN-Data" folder on your NAS.

Key Points to Remember:

Local Folder First: QSync needs to know where to sync files on your computer before it knows what to sync from the NAS.
Permissions: Double-check that the "Adm1n" user on your NAS has read/write permissions to the "SDN-Data" shared folder. This is essential for syncing to work correctly.
Network Connectivity: Ensure your Windows 11 PC has a stable network connection to your QNAP NAS. A poor connection can cause syncing issues.
QSync Version: Make sure you have the latest version of the QSync client installed on your PC. Outdated versions can sometimes have bugs. You can download the latest version from the QNAP website.
If you still encounter issues, try these troubleshooting steps:

Restart QSync Client: Close and reopen the QSync client on your PC.
Restart NAS: Restart your QNAP TS-233 NAS.
Check NAS Logs: Look at the logs on your NAS for any error messages related to QSync or file access. This might give you clues about the problem.
Temporarily Disable Firewall: As a test, temporarily disable your Windows Firewall to see if it's blocking QSync. If this fixes the issue, you'll need to configure your firewall to allow QSync traffic. (Remember to re-enable your firewall afterward.)

Thanks for the great (and super quick) answer.  It still didn't work initially.  I then restarted the PC and tried and again and it worked perfectly! I have my first automated sync working!!

Either I did something dumb or the restart was necessary for the QSync Client to see my PC's file structure.  I'm going to pretend it was the second thing.
