Hi,
I want to know which brand of HDD is the best for Synology 918+. Also, what RPM? Because I read that 7200RPM make sound, and it runs out quickly. Also, Seagate 10 TB have problem with the Caches?
Thank you

It depends on what you are using this NAS for. A simple file server or Multimedia would require nothing more then regular NAS drives like WD Red and Seagate Ironwolf. If there will be 20 or more users using it, you may consider getting faster drives like WD Red Pro or Ironwolf Pro or even Exos drives. You may also consider the NVMe cache in this case. If you do plan on running a web server or virtual machines then SSD cache or even 2.5inch SATA SSD would be recommended instead of regular HDDs. Cache what you find built inside the drives themselves do not play a significant role since RAID does not know how to utilise this storage unit. The best NVMe cache for M.2 slots will be Samsung EVO 960 and 970. For a big user base and heavy use EVO Pro or Plus series SSD.I hope this helps.
