Safest Way To Back Synology To Another Synology NAS Remotely With Encrypted Connection?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Following “most” of your advice I bought a 918+ for main house and 218+ for lake house. Each is ubiquiti with its own cloud key gen2 (i use protect from them). (I don’t want to send video over the Net) What is the best way to connect these two for Hyper backup and Vault? Does Quick connect allow this – as I can’t seem to make it work. Both ends are served by non-satic addresses from the ISPs. Do I have to set up Dynamic DNS via a service and use port forwarding?

would like your advice – mendes – remember two private networks that don’t know each other exists – purely home use

How To Make Two Synology NAS Backup Each Other Over The Internet Or Local Network?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Do you know if the software will allow one unit to backup to another unit at another location via the internet? What I would like to do is get two of these, install one at my church (very small – office is our Pastor and a church secretary) as file storage/backup for two PCs, and install the other one at the Pastor’s house (which is not far, but not on the same network) to which the first one would sync/backup.

How To Link IP Cameras In One House With A NAS In Another House?

How to link IP cameras in one house with a NAS in another house? IP cameras remote connection to Synology NAS Surveillance Station

I’ve found your article as very interesting and clarifying, but still I can’t find an answer for my desired installation.
I’d like to install a surveillance system in my second home, but configured from a Synology NAS I have in my main home, both in different cities and I can’t find if this is possible.
I want to know if I can configure my cameras installed in my second home to be managed from my Synology NAS installed in my first home.
Both are 50 km away from each other and both homes have a fast 100mb fiber optics connection to the PTT network.
The idea is to check my second home cameras from my first home Synology NAS and/or surveillance app.
If answer is positive, could I also send the recording over the internet so I can keep the video in case the burglar stole the SD card?.
Thank you for any help

Bitrot Protected NAS- Best Option For Super Long Term Storage And Protection Of Data Corrosion?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Bitrot Qnap Ext4

Looking for a long term cold storage (the data is not used actively anymore) option for about 30TB of data and was looking at QNAP RAID 6 option as base for this backup. (I will have individual 3 x 10 TB drives offsite as well (2 off site locations)). I know the Raid 6 will give me drive failure protection, but activating scrubbing, will that be the best option for super long term storage and protection of data corrosion? Plus, if I power this NAS down, how often should I power it up to perform this scrubbing?

My real big concern is data loss from bitrot over long periods of time.

  Cheapest UPS Battery For TVS-872XT?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Cheapest UPS battery for TVS-872XT

Hello, Hope you are doing well. Based on your previous recommendation I had purchased a Qnap 872-XT.

I am now looking for ma UPS to ensure i don’t loose any data during a power outage.

I am looking for something affordable. (Under $200 CAD)

I was wondering if you can offer me a recommendation for my qnap. The Qnap Will be the only thing plugged in to the UPS.

I found a few in my price range, but was wondering if these can communicate with my Qnap and ensure enough time for proper shutdown.

https://www.cyberpowersystems.com/produc...igent-lcd/

TVS-872XT consumes 65.03 W while actively running.

Can anyone suggest a USB UPS that is compatible with the DS218+ for use in the USA and under $200?

  TVS-673 RAM Upgrade?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

RAM Upgrade

I have a QNAP TVS-673. It’s currently got 4GB of RAM. I’m looking to upgrade to 32GB of RAM in preparation for QTS Hero.
I’ve found 2 possible candidates – not sure which one to buy (both very similarly priced) – could you advise which one to go for:

Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200)

Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300)

  TVS-872XT CPU And RAM Upgrade?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

CPU and RAM upgrade

Thanks for this great review. Since short I am also the proud owner of the TVS-872XT NAS.

I am looking for options to upgrade the CPU of this NAS to an I7 and go to 64gb RAM. I would like to inquire to what motherboard is in the NAS and what CPU types would fit on the motherboard. I read about the Intel I7 Core 8770T but I can’t find it for purchase in my neighborhood.

On the RAM upgrade. I know officially the TVS872XT supports up to 32gb, but I found several users to upgrade to 64gb (2x32gb). Samsung seems a good choice, but would you have other experiences or recommendations?

Asustor Mobile Apps For Photos And More?

Photo app recommendation for Apple user who just got a Nimbustor 4

Do you have software recommendations that may help me manage my photos on my Nimbustor 4 NAS?

Ideally I would like the functionality and convenience we enjoy with our Apple devices (iPhone 8+, iPhone 6, Apple TV, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini) but instead of storing our photos in iCloud, have them stored on our new Nimbustor 4.
