5400 v 7200 worth it over 10GBe

#1
The typical bundle deals are DS1522 w/ Seagate IW 5900rpm (5x 4TB)... would I see a drastic improvement if a chose IW Pro 7200rpm... I'd use 10GBe directly connected to my iMac w/ 10GBe port... I'd be upgrading a DS1512 with 3TB Barracuda's <yea I know, but it was 10y ago!)... THANKS for the great site and YouTube vids! Sorry if I did miss you guys doing something with 5400/5900 drives... - I would be utilizing SHR1 or 2 / RAID 5 or 6...

Yes, faster spinning drives are slightly faster. You can see them compared here https://nascompares.com/answer/wd-red-or...d-red-pro/
But things like IOPS do not change as much. If you want to get as much speed as possible via 10GbE bandwidth, Pro drives will help. But they are louder.
SSD would be the ultimate way. Or even mix of SSD/HDD.

I hope this helps.
