DS920+ DS923+

#1
Good evening,

I am seriously considering the DS923+ but then I started reading/hearing about the difference in the processors between the two devices.  As I understand it, the Rysen chip on the 923+ does not have an onboard GPU and therefore cannot perform hardware encoding on the chip.

Will someone explain to me the real world significance of this?

My NAS needs are:

1.  Backups - as part of a 3-2-1 backup solution.
2.  Multimedia - moving some DVDs/Blu-Rays to the NAS after ripping.
3.  Virtual Machines - Windows 10/11, Kali Linux.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yes, this might be confusing to understand.
In simple terms, ds923+ is not good for remote access. Either it is videos or CCTV.
DS920+ has no issues like this.
Both NAS work just fine in home network though. If you need 10GbE upgrade option, only ds923+ support it.

I hope this helps.
