additional invisible storage mac mini

#1
Hi

What would it be your advice for my issue?

My aim is to give to the mac mini of my father some storage (for foto, video and documents) I would say 2 TB with redundancy (i think raid 1)

Ideally the solution would be as invisible as possible (like some docking station/ hub to install under the mac mini)
I saw that exist some docking were you can install as ssd inside, I thought I can add two docking stacked and configure a raid 1 inside a mac,

The solution should be really easy to manage, does not need to be blazing fast but not also sluggish, and should be able to to start and stop with the start up and shut down of the mac, my dad is 75 and not really into nerdy stuff.

My plan was kind if set it and forget it.

Hope I explained clearly enough the point

Thanks!

I would recommend a NAS such as ds220j. This is their cheapest mirror solution. You can set up automated power on/off schedules. It will map to your computer similarly to USB disk but this is a network drive. This means you can keep it anywhere next to your router. It will connect via LAN to your router and will become available over the network.
Speeds up to 100MB/s via LAN. This is your own private cloud.

I hope this helps.
