NAS DS720+ max RAM capacity?

#1
I'm new to NAS and will be using it for home office use (2 Macs + 1 iPhone + 1 iPad).

I would like to get confirmation regarding RAM capacity for DS720+. The information on Synology's data sheet is different from your website.

On Synology's data sheet for DS720+ (https://bit.ly/3mKPgDT), it says ....

MEMORY:
2 GB DDR4 onboard (expandable up to 6 GB)
DS720+ comes with 2 GB DDR4 onboard and can support up to 6 GB by adding one optional DDR4 non-ECC 4 GB SO-DIMM.

However, on your website (https://nascompares.com/ram/ds720-compatible-ram-upgrade/Wink, it says....

System Memory 4 GB DDR4
Memory Module Pre-installed – Soldered 4 GB (4 GB x 1)
Total Memory Slots 1
Memory Expandable up to 8 GB (4 GB + 4 GB) official

The max Synology recommends is 8GB DDR4. But you CPU spec says you could in theory upgrade up to 20GB.

Please clarify. Thanks so much.

Yes, Synology official upgrades are up to 6GB. But you can use unofficial Crucial RAM and go up to 18GB.Synology will show warning trying to sell their own RAM but it will not affect performance.I hope this helps.
