RS3411RPXS RAM Upgrade?

#1
Synology RS3411RPXS RAM Upgrade

Was wondering if you could offer me some advice. I have a Synology RS2411RPXS which comes with 2GB RAM. It is stated in the literature that it is upgradable to 8GB. I have recently purchased 2x 8GB sticks from here, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-4-8-16GB-Se...2749.l2649.
As far as I could tell these are the same spec as what the synology requires but installing one stick does not work, just flashing blue light and never boots. Installing the two 8GB sticks, the same. Installing one of the original 1GB sticks with an 8GB stick boots but in the DSM it says its physical memory is 1024MB.
So it does not seem to be recognising these new sticks. Would I be better off going for two 4GB sticks or am I purchasing the wrong RAM?

his is quite old NAS and it will be difficult to find exact matching RAM. Very often unknown RAM sticks do not work. I would recommend Crucial as an alternative to original Synology RAM.If I had to bet I would say this would work: Crucial 4GB 240 Pin DDR3 1600 MTps PC3-12800 CL11 Unbuffered ECC UDIMM Memory ModuleProducts from Amazon.co.ukCrucial 4GB 240 Pin DDR3 1600 MTps PC3-12800 CL11 Unbuffered ECC UDIMM Memory ModulePrice: Check on AmazonQuite often Synology does work with higher or lower frequency RAM. Let me know how it goes.
