Mixing Drive Brands in Synology NAS - Enquiries - 10-26-2023

I would like to know if it's OK to mix drive brands (WD, Seagate, etc.) together in the same NAS. I'm matching the 7200rpm speeds of all the drives and the cache memory specs.

I really love your channel and it's my go-to for deep dives into the subject. Thanks for doing your videos!

Cheers, Craig O'Donnelly

Certainly, Craig, it's generally okay to mix drive brands in a Synology NAS as long as you ensure that the drives have similar specifications. Matching the drive speed at 7200rpm and cache memory specs is a good practice, and it should help maintain compatibility and performance consistency within your NAS.
