Thinking of using a NAS for a feature film shooting on ARRI Raw, then editing online using proxies. Basically store all large raw files on NAS until final export.

When it comes to editing a feature film shot on ARRI Raw and working with proxies, there are a couple of options to consider. First, if you have a fast and stable internet connection, you can use a NAS as a remote disk, accessing and editing the files directly from the NAS. Alternatively, you can opt for a NAS with a powerful CPU that allows for the creation of a Windows virtual machine on the NAS. This setup would enable you to access and edit the files via remote desktop software like TeamViewer.

One popular choice for video editing is the QNAP TVS-H874, which comes with either an i5 or i7 CPU. This NAS provides ample processing power to handle the demanding tasks associated with editing high-resolution video files. With its robust hardware and versatile features, the TVS-H874 is a reliable option for storing and editing your ARRI Raw footage, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow throughout the post-production process.
