Upgrade Synology DS220J to DS220+ - Enquiries - 06-07-2023 I would like to remove my 2 data disks from a Synology DS220J and install in a Synology DS220+. The DS220j is working fine but would like better performance from the DS220+. Is this possible and if so what are the steps? Thanks for your help! RE: Upgrade Synology DS220J to DS220+ - ed - 06-08-2023 Yes, DS220+ will be much faster. Also adding more RAM would help. But for the most part 2GB is enough. I know the DS220+ will be faster, my question was regarding the steps necessary to transfer the disks safely from the DS220j to the DS220+. Thank you. But for the most part 2GB is enough. You will need to manually copy data over via LAN or via USB dock. Value series drives can not be moved to plus series without formating them. I removed the drives from the DS220J and installed them in the DS220+ paying attention to the drive locations drive 1 to drive 1. When I fired up the 220+ and searched using the synology assistant, the drives were listed as "Migratable". I double clicked on the "Migratable" highlighted and DSM was updated and all my data and configurations were intack! Easy Peasy, thank goodness. This DS220+ is lightning fast compared to the DS220J! So glad I made the move. Thanks for all the replies. |
