Questions about PR4100 and SSDs - Enquiries - 05-31-2023

Hi,

I would like to know if the WD PR4100 is compatible with SSDs other than WD’s one ? I want to buy Samsung 870 QVO MZ-77Q8T0BW but I can’t find a compatibility list for the PR4100.

Are SSDs reliable for a Plex NAS, and Plex only ? We’ll only watch movies, tv shows once every two days so there won’t be a lot of write and rewrite. I keep reading people saying SSDs are not ready for a heavy use but what if it is for a Plex server ?

Thank you for your answers and for your great work. I don’t always get it when it gets really technical but still there are great information for people like me. So thank you again !

Igor

Yes, there is no reason for SSD to not work. All SATA based media should work.
Having SSD will improve PLEX and NAS performance in general. But having SSD is not that crucial.
