Drives for DS423+ - Enquiries - 04-14-2023 Hi. Can You please help me decide which drives would be compatible with Synology DS423+ (I never had NAS before) and better to use? Drives are: TOSHIBA Enterprise MG07ACA14TE 14TB (272,98€ -cca 240,38£) WD GOLD WD102KRYZ 10TB (294,74€ - cca 259,54£) Seagate Exos X18 512E/4KN 10TB (280,14€ - cca 246,69£). None of them is on official Synology compatibility list and if I can I would go with most space since all of them are about same price (local prices). NAS will be used for file sharing and multimedia sharing and local backup of 4 PC and 1 laptop. Thank you for all help You can give me. RE: Drives for DS423+ - ed - 04-19-2023 Both WD Red Plus and Seagate IronWolf are good choices for use with the Synology DS423+. They are designed for use in NAS devices and come with features such as vibration control and optimized firmware for improved performance and reliability in a multi-drive environment. In terms of noise, both the WD Red Plus and Seagate IronWolf are designed to be quiet during operation. The WD Red Plus has a noise level of 20-29 dBA, while the Seagate IronWolf has a noise level of 18-35 dBA, depending on the specific model. As for the drives you mentioned, the Toshiba Enterprise MG07ACA14TE, WD Gold WD102KRYZ, and Seagate Exos X18 512E/4KN are all enterprise-class drives designed for use in data centers and server environments. While they may work with the Synology DS423+, they are not specifically designed for use in a NAS environment, and may not offer the same level of compatibility and reliability as drives specifically designed for use in NAS devices. |
