Should I upgrade from NAS 920+? - Enquiries - 03-30-2023 Hi, I really appreciate the work you have done to make it easier for people like us to understand NAS. Your comparison videos are spot on and it gives a lot of information. I currently have a DS 920+ which is working without any issues. The only major bottleneck for me is the 1Gbe port and the slow read/write speeds. I am thinking of upgrading. My major use-case is Media Server. I also sometimes use plex. I am looking for future proofing, so that I don't have to worry about it for next few years or so. Do you think DS1522+ is a better upgrade for me or a DS1621xs+? Or should i just stick with my DS920+ and wait for Synology to come up with a better hardware NAS? Thanks in advance, Bhanu RE: Should I upgrade from NAS 920+? - ed - 03-31-2023 Funny enough Ds920+ is still the best multimedia NAS Synology have. Same spec as new ds423+. New ryzen based models are terrible for media. Choose those only if you need 10gbe LAN. Otherwise consider 5gbe adapter https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iMJ-Lhyq16s |
