M.2 NVMe SSD - Enquiries - 03-15-2023 Hi, I have an DS1621xs+ and are looking into upgrading it with NVMe SSD's. It's a jungle out there when it comes to whats compatible. I think the Synology ones are overpriced and are looking into buying something else. Could you recommend something to me that you know works with my machine? Best regards / Daniel Rendrup RE: M.2 NVMe SSD - ed - 03-17-2023 There is only Synology SSD listed here https://www.synology.com/en-uk/compatibility?search_by=products&model=DS1621xs%2B&category=m2_ssd_internal&p=1&change_log_p=1 But you may try and use other SSDs. When choosing NVMe for caching you need to look at reliability ratings such as DWPD/MTBF. Here are a few on the list https://nascompares.com/answer/nvme-m-2-list-with-endurance-dwpd-mtbf/ Caching means a lot of read and write operations, unlike regular storage situation. You would need to look at models with 0.5DWPD and above 970 pro – 0.66DWPD Synology SNV3400 – 0.68DWPD Seagate FireCuda 510 – 0.7 DWPD Seagate IronWolf 525 – 0.7 DWPD Seagate Firecuda 530 – 0.7 DWPD Seagate PS5 Game drive – 0.7 DWPD Seagate FireCuda 520 -0.9 DWPD WD Red SN700 – 1.0DWPD I hope this helps. |
