NAS for photographer - Enquiries - 03-09-2023 I am looking for a solution for me (photographer) and my partner (therapist) for a joint data centrel. Currently about 6 TB Raw and processed images (growing fast) and ideally a place for patient data (security). As mac user I would like to go Thunderbolt > looking at the TVS x72xt series and the TS X64 series (T4!) Which is best (I would load it with seagate ironwolf 8TB HDD). Thank you very much Andreas RE: NAS for photographer - ed - 03-10-2023 Both the QNAP TVS-x72XT and TS-x64 series are great options, but they have different advantages depending on your needs. The TVS-x72XT series is designed for high-speed data transfer, with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity that can deliver speeds up to 40Gbps. This makes it an ideal choice for multimedia professionals who need to transfer large files quickly, such as photographers or videographers. It also has a more powerful CPU, which can handle more complex tasks. On the other hand, the TS-x64 series is a more budget-friendly option, but it still offers solid performance and features. It has a slightly slower CPU than the TVS-x72XT series, but it's still powerful enough to handle most tasks, including running multiple applications simultaneously. The TS-x64 series also has a wider range of models to choose from, so you can find one that meets your specific needs and budget. In terms of storage, both the TVS-x72XT and TS-x64 series are compatible with Seagate IronWolf drives, which are specifically designed for NAS systems and offer reliable performance and durability. When it comes to security, both series offer features such as AES-NI encryption and secure access protocols to protect your data. However, for sensitive patient data, you may want to consider additional security measures, such as implementing two-factor authentication or using a separate encrypted drive for backup and archiving. Overall, if speed and high-performance are your top priorities, the TVS-x72XT series may be the better option. However, if you're looking for a more budget-friendly choice with a wider range of models to choose from, the TS-x64 series is a great choice. |
