QNAP TS 264 NAS - Enquiries - 03-02-2023

Hi

Thanks for all your video, that helps me a lot to understand and select which nas i need but i have a question.

I'm looking for the QNAP TS 264 but i think that 2 bays will be not enough for a long time keeping.
I checked the QNAP TS 464 but it less powerfull than his little brother.
So if I buy the TS 264 and in the future, add an extension like the TR 002 is this setup working well and more powerful than the TS 464 itself ?
Is there a lost or performance for RAID 1 with an extension ?

Thanks in advance for your answer and sorry if i made mistakes in my message i'm not english.

Quentin

Yes, you can use the QNAP TR-002 expansion unit with the TS-264 to add additional storage capacity in the future. The TR-002 is a great option for adding additional drives to your NAS, and it connects to your NAS via a USB Type-C cable.

In terms of performance, the TR-002 should not cause any performance loss for RAID 1. However, it's important to note that the speed of the expansion unit will depend on the connection type and the drives used. The TR-002 supports both RAID 0 and RAID 1 configurations, and it can be used to expand the storage capacity of a compatible QNAP NAS.

As for comparing the performance of the TS-264 with the TS-464, it really depends on your specific use case and the demands you will place on the NAS. The TS-464 has the same
processor than the TS-264, but it has four drive bays, which allows for more storage capacity. If you require more storage capacity and don't need the extra processing power, the TS-464 may be a better option for you. However, if you prioritize processing power over storage capacity, the TS-264 with an expansion unit is a good option.
