NAS recommandations - Enquiries - 02-14-2023 Hi there, I have QNAP ts-469 pro, coming up to 10 years old. Historically I've used it for storage, streaming and some NVR...a few years ago it started playing up, wouldn't install so I just left it doing what it was doing. I'm now considering replacing it after wiping and rebuilding. My priority is storage (family files), I already have disks, next is to store my old website on it which was vbulletin 4, php and mysql...which was last used in 2016 and know some of the newer versions of those apps wont support. Then comes NVR and finally streaming...I'm stuck to be honest, I've looked at Synology and Qnap and it's a minefield....any suggestions appreciated. Many thanks RE: NAS recommandations - ed - 02-17-2023 Hello! Thank you for reaching out for advice on replacing your QNAP TS-469 Pro NAS. Based on your priorities for storage, storing your old website, NVR, and streaming, there are a few options that might suit your needs. Firstly, it's worth noting that exposing any NAS device directly to the internet can pose a security risk, and it's recommended to keep the device behind a firewall or router. In the case of the QNAP TS-469 Pro, it's important to make sure that all QTS ports are closed and only web traffic is allowed if you plan on exposing it to the internet. With that said, if you're considering replacing your QNAP NAS, one option to consider is the QNAP TS-464 series, which is a newer and more powerful model. The TS-464 series offers up to 4 bays for storage and comes with a quad-core Celeron processor. This device should be more than capable of handling your storage, NVR, and streaming needs. Another option to consider is the Synology DS923+. This device is also compatible with NVMe cache and storage, which can provide improved performance for frequently accessed data. |
