Swapping HDDs into a new NAS - Enquiries - 02-07-2023

Hello, we frequently talk about HDDs dying, and replacing them. But what about NAS or RAID controller dying? Has anyone ever tried pulling HDDs out of a Synology NAS and putting them into a newer Synology NAS? In the correct order of course. Would this be a valid way to get access to a RAID array? It sounds very risky to me, but I wonder if it might work.

Yes, it is possible to pull the HDDs out of a Synology NAS and put them into a newer Synology NAS in order to access the RAID array, as long as the newer NAS supports the same RAID configuration as the original NAS.
