M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3 x1,2 - Enquiries - 11-26-2022 Hi Nascompare Team, I’m trying to decide which NAS I’m going to by from QNAP. I use the TS-219+ for many years and now its time to move on. I have the QNAP TS-253E-8G and TS-264-8G in mind. The newer TS-264-8G has faster CPU but the TS-253-8G has M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3 x2. Is there and advantage of having M.2 PCIe Gen 3x2 instead of Gen 3x1? The SSDs (WDS100T1R0C) should not be the problem. I have the 2.5Gbit network as bottle neck in mind. Maybe you have general explanation what PCIe Gen makes sense 3x4, 4x4… Thanks for your help Mario RE: M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3 x1,2 - ed - 11-27-2022 Yes M.2 PCIe Gen 3x2 = 4GB/s and Gen 3x1 = 2GB/s. But you are right about the bottleneck. If you use these SSD for storage then even with 10GbE card installed 2GB/s is slower than LAN speed. In this case it is better to look at SSD IOPS rather then speed. I hope this helps https://nascompares.com/answer/best-nvme-m-2-ssd-for-caching/ |
