Help what router to buy for new switch - Enquiries - 11-17-2022 Hi. Our Microtix router board died because of power outage. Replacement of same make model was too expensive so I bought a TPLINK (TLSL 1218MP) 16 port POE Switch. Internet company says I must buy a router to link to their modem and this switch. I'm not an IT person, need recommendation on any specs I should look for when buying the router - I assume the usual home routers are not good enough? (Switch has to be used for at least 10 access points on different floors) THANK YOU! RE: Help what router to buy for new switch - ed - 11-20-2022 It depends on what you need this router to do. For simple DHCP (IP address issuing) you can get any router, including home-based routers. If you need few extras like firewalls, each computer speed limit function, content filters and intrusion detection systems then you can get any Synology router https://www.synology.com/en-uk/products/RT6600ax. They also support smooth meshing systems instead of dumb access points. The top-range router / switch that can manage network will be unify, dream machine router. https://amzn.to/3XkPFAw I hope this helps. |
