NAS Recommendation - Enquiries - 11-05-2022
Looking to upgrade from home brew (TrueNAS) system. Major use case is personal cloud and sharing of files, mostly photos with a few personal videos, not streaming movies. Desire to run Plex server or equivalent for photos, videos (personal) and music, but this is a secondary goal. Other major use case is part of a disaster recovery strategy for PCs (Windows), and the NAS, itself. Any insight/recommendations would be helpful.

I would recommend ds920+. It is now cheaper, but it still has a full range of applications that budget models do not have.
You will get mobile sand computer app for simple access and backing up. Also, the media player apps will allow you not only to stream locally but also remotely.
