QNAP TS-1685 - Enquiries - 09-24-2022

I'm looking for QNAP TS-1685, but nobody has them any more. What is the newer replacement model number?
I store lots of pictures and personal videos, so I don't need a business version, but not a JBOD is what I'm looking for.
I have for 10 years TS560-PRO

Question: Can I just insert the drives from my TS directly into any Qnap server that isn't JBOD?
Or do I have to copy all the files?
What raid should I use to serve my pictures as fast as it can?
Thank you very much!

The newer model for the TS-1685 is the TVS-h1688x if you need the same 12 x 3.5” sata hdd & 4 x 2.5” disc arrangement.

QNAP supports NAS migration, provided the newer NAS has at least the same RAM & storage pool capacity, there’s a great guide to this on their website and it means you can reuse all your existing discs and then add more capacity once the migration is complete.

It might be a bit overkill for your needs and given you can now get HDDs over 20TB something like the TS-673A might be better suited or the TVS-675 if you need an HDMI output.

You could consider adding a PCIe card with dual SSD for cache acceleration which both the above would support
