Which slots to use for NVMe drives? - Enquiries - 09-24-2022

Hey guys thanks alot for your previous advice on which disks to get for caching, I really appreciate it. I went with the Firecuda 530 1TB and also got a new QM2 card. Now I need a little bit more help for final setup

NAS - TVS-872X
QM2 Card - QM2-4P-384A
NVMe drives - 2x Firecuda 520 1TB (RAID1 on QM2 Card for VM's)
NVMe drives - 2x Firecuda 530 500GB (Unused but will use for QNAP apps RAID1)
NVMe drives - 2x Firecuda 530 1TB (Unused but will use for read/write caching RAID1)

I want to use a set of disks for caching & the other set for migrated QNAP apps so they'll run faster.
The M.2 slots on the NAS are Gen3x2 and the QM2 card is Gen3x4 so my question is.
Whats your recommendation for which slot to use for caching & which slot to use for apps for the best overall performance

Yes, this is important.
So M.2 slots are 4GB/s each = total 8GB/s
PCie 1 = Gen3 X16 = total 16GB/ss
PCIe 2 = Gen3 X4 = total 8GB /s
QM2-4P-384A output is gen3 x8 = total 16GB/s

So, you will want to install this card into PCIe slot 1. And make sure the cache is set up on the fastest PCIe lane.

I hope this helps.
