Security - Firewall - Enquiries - 08-16-2022 Do you have a video covering Firewall setup. Have a firewall enabled on my router. Do I need the Synology firewall enabled as well. There appears to be mixed messages on this topic circultaing on the internet. Synology pdf manual is of no help to a newbie NAS user. Thanks in advance RE: Security - Firewall - ed - 08-16-2022 There are a few things you want to achieve when setting up a firewall. By default, you want to block everyone You would then decide what services need to be accessible from the outside world and what is for local access only Here is a list of the ports Synology use https://kb.synology.com/en-global/DSM/tutorial/What_network_ports_are_used_by_Synology_services Things like Admin panel and SMB and other services will need to be enabled either for a dedicated LAN port or a specific internal IP range. I hope this helps. |
