Factory reset (no drives) - Enquiries - 08-15-2022

I can't find any definitive answers on this, but if a NAS like a ds218+ with no drives are sold do they keep any information on previous configurations, and is it safe to sell without drives? Do I need to do anything for protection?

There might be some config data stored on an internal SSD chip. But none of your data will be there. All of that lives on your hard drives. You can always perform a factory reset from Synology settings in Admin panel to make sure everything is wiped. You can also use the reset button at the back of the NAS to reset your settings (hold 5 seconds).

I hope this helps.
