Nas for Backup, Photostation and Vodeostation - Enquiries - 08-12-2022 Hello Nas-Compare Team, at the moment I am running a Synology DS116 with 1 HDD size 6TB. I have got already 2 Toshiba N300 NAS HDDs each with 10TB. With my one Bay NAS i am afraid of a HDD failure, so i want a 2 or 4 bay NAS. I want to use the NAS although to connect it via iSCSI to my Intel NUC with VMware ESX Hypervisor running. I have a look at the following two Synology NAS (DS220+ and DS420+) Which NAS System would you adcise? Best regards Lang RE: Nas for Backup, Photostation and Vodeostation - ed - 08-15-2022 Practically any NAS will support iSCSI https://www.synology.com/en-global/dsm/packages/ScsiTarget?os_ver=7.1&search=scs Having two-bay model such as DS218+ will enable a wide range of functionality. This included spanshots, server backups and more. If you go for ds420+, you can leave few bays empty for future expansion. Or you can set up hot spare/cache. Having a one bay system is just a matter of time when that drive fails. |
