High CPU usage with plex - Enquiries - 08-02-2022

Good day. I purchased a DS1512+ used. Everything works fine it appears). I then upgraded the Ram to (I believe) 4gb. I then purchased 5 specific compatable 6TB hard drives. They are the same for all 5. (Seagate IronWolf 6TB NAS Internal HDD 3.5” SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM 256MB Cache). I would have to get back with you on the specific part number. I have Cat 6 cable from router, to switch to the unit. The switch is a TP-Link TL-SG1005D 5-port Gigabit Desktop Switch. I am unsure as to the transcoding selections with in plex. I am trying to run plex on the server. The 4k content is like its not smooth and skips. I am running about 11Mbps of upload speed. Are you able to give much help from this?

I would recommend copying those movie files on the USB stick and connecting that to the TV just to find out if your TV supports those videos and do not require a transcoding feature. Synology plus series models can not transcode 4k in Plex only in their own video app. Also, go to Plex setting and make sure transcoding is disabled, this would avoid unnecessary transcoding if TV can play original files. You may need to stream those videos via DLNA instead.

I hope this helps.
