I purchased a DS220+. I also have mycloud EX2 which is now only local. Is it possible to change the software on the WD device to use the DSM from synology and OMV?";}

WD EX2 is not supported anymore and you can not update or change the software. You can keep on using it locally or maybe link it with Synology for external access.
