QNAP TS-873A (64GBRAM): QuTS: benefitts of PCIe GPU? - steinradler - 03-20-2021

What are the advantages of GPU expansion? In conjunction with virtualization and containers what exactly does it bring and is it worth it?
Is only the graphics performance passed on to the VM's or is the computing power also supported? Or what other benefits does it bring? Thanks

Depending on the graphics card you choose then if could help with hardware transcoding for Plex. The potential downside to this is that a lot of the graphics cards chew up both slots (well from an external facing plate perspective) because of the GPU fans. This would mess you up if you wanted to add a 10GB Ethernet card or other expansion in the future.
