Adding an SATA power connector to my NAS? - Enquiries - 02-28-2020 I am setting up a QNAP TVS-473e. I am following your excellent setup video series--thank you. I have added a USB-C expansion card. It has an optional SATA power connector. The card installed fine and the ports are recognized by the 473e. I want to connect the optional power connection. Unfortunately, the 473e has no available power connectors of any kind that I can find. Do you have any suggestions for an adapter to add a SATA power connector to the harness? Adding an SATA power connector to my NAS? - ed - 02-15-2021 NAS is not built as a PC. It is geared towards storage only. So power supply will likely be only big enough to handle a number of drive bays available. There will be no additional power sockets available on the motherboard. You could theoretically split the cables and create a connection yourself. But check if the power supply will be big enough to support attached drives. Also, your warranty will surely be voided.I hope this helps. RE: Adding an SATA power connector to my NAS? - llatta2 - 12-22-2024 I have the same issue. I added an expansion card to my TVS-473e that has an optional power connector. So far, the card is functioning fine without the optional power connected. I understand that the NAS is designed and built with an adequate power supply that might not support powering an expansion card optional power connector. Still, I am curious and interested in finding a way to add an additional power connector to the NAS's wiring harness. I do not have the NAS documentation to confidently chose the correct wires to splice in a connector. Therefore, I am hoping to find a plug adapter that could be inserted at an existing connection that would serve as a splicer that would add the additional power plug. I am not finding any adapter insert plugs for this purpose. (Maybe I just do not know the correct describers to use in the search?) Can anyone suggest a source? |
